BATTALION CHIEF HERBERT L DAVIS FOUNDATION The Battalion Chief Herbert L. Davis  foundation provides scholarships and support for African American youth in the Omaha, Nebraska metropolitan area.

Herb grew up in the housing projects of Omaha, Nebraska and had the opportunity to join the Omaha Fire Department  He graduated from the University of Nebraska, Omaha where he earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees.  His education and determination prepared him to be the first African American Battalion Chief in the state of Nebraska.

Herb believed that education is the key to opening doors to financial opportunities that are closed to many Black youths and believed that the lack of money should never be a roadblock to a college education.   He performed many deeds to promote opportunities for under privileged youths and this 501(3c) Foundation has been established to continue his efforts to help the African American youth of Omaha earn their college education.
